IN TWO MINDS - BEHIND THE SCENES

Eli Hazel, Debbie Thoy (writer/director), Jordan McLaren and
Anna Helmersson

The storyline for "In Two Minds" had been floating around in Debbie's head for a few years before she decided to put it into a screenplay for a short film this year (2007).

She shot the film as part of the PAC Screen Workshops course which began as a bit of a risk as you don't get to choose your actors, they are assigned to you. However Debbie was fortunate that she was able to pick her lead. Even though she had never seen Jordan act, he visibly fitted the part and Debbie had a good feeling about him which turned out to be spot on. The two girls in the cast Eli and Anna also turned out to be great in their roles. Everybody got on well and worked well together which made things run a lot smoother as it was such a complicated shoot in a short span of time.

Young Michael was the obvious choice to play the role of the boy. Debbie worked with him on House Traps and remembers his cheeky and infectious smile which was crucial for this role.

Jordan had a great challenge playing two characters. He had to jump from one character to the other almost instantly to get some of the shots required which he pulled off well. It lead to a great deal of bloopers and a lot of laughs. That's what film making should be all about - FUN!
