30 SECONDS, that's all the time you have to get a Casting Director, Producer or Directors attention and keep it. They have a lot of actors to get through and don't have the time to watch each and every showreel in it's entirety. They are not interested in waiting for that special something that is somewhere in your reel. They want to see it straight away.
Your showreel needs to have an immediate impact. This is your visual resume, it is a tool to sell you and your talent.
Look at it like a television commercial. They have 30 seconds to sell a product. If the commercial gets your attention straight away, focuses on the product, is interesting and keeps you intrigued, then you are more likely to remember it, want to know more and possibly buy that product.
You're a talented actor, so make sure you invest in a showreel that will show your strengths from the moment the showreel starts. |
